One Year Coin

Overview

My family was looking for a coin to commemorate one year of sobriety, but found that none of the readymade options suited the person who would receive it. We needed something with a witchy mystic vibe. The message on one side says “My Choice is Everything” and can also be read as “Everything is My Choice”. The depiction of the Earth’s transit around the sun symbolizes the passage of one year. Likewise, on the opposite side the coin is visually segmented into 12 pieces to symbolize each month.

Methods

The design for the coin was created in illustrator and exported as a black and white JPEG to hand off to the engraver. Because the final product would be small at 1.25”, I confirmed legibility by printing at actual size on paper.
